I work with a camera and with colored pencils. If not converting my photo images into prints and photo-art note cards, I use photo images to help create colored pencil art, especially portraits. I recognize that beauty is found in every living thing. God's endless creations surround us daily to form models from which art can be patterned. When we are in tune with nature and in rhythm with the footsteps of humanity, we can interpret God's creations in countless ways.
Preserving a moment in eternity through the artist's pencil or the camera's lens is a personal gift an artist can give to the world. When producing portraits, whether from the twinkle of an eye or a radiant smile, it is a rewarding experience to capture a personality as a work of art, which can speak to the hearts of others. And, children are special subjects to portray because of the love and joy they perpetuate.
I've been told that my work has an appeal for its distinctive representational look and its subtle details, using wax-based colored pencils which produce artistic executions found with no other art medium. Colored pencil painting combines drawing and the application of delicate and bold colors to a variety of surfaces that render collector-quality fine art.
To me, my work is an extension of my thought process involving ideas and images that represent people, places, and things. My goal, with many pieces, is to tell a story through colored pencil painting.
